New building projects can be so desolate, so cold. People withdraw, isolate themselves, turn away from the world. Everything seems to focus on preventing inconvenience and nuisance. Still people experience an increasing feeling of insafety, while the crime rates are decreasing. Do we still tolerate each other? And what does our urban surroundings contribute to this feeling? In the new projects that I photographed, I see the distance between people, enhanced by concrete, cold winds, fences and ditches.
